Mind Mapping, again.
It took me a looooooong while to figure out what my domain is. The first thing that came to my mind was data-visualization, however, in contrast to those projects that merely utilized the data and generated beautiful images, I'm more interested in projects that have meaningful purposes. Either to create a new interface for the target audience and provide new perspectives or to highlight and organize data and present in a more human-compatible way, I like the practical considerations behind the projects.
Human-Computer-Interface is also a topic that I'm always interested in. Compare to those well-developed interface, for instance, traditional website (which written in html/css and for display information mainly), I'm more interested in the new technology-driven type of interface design. For example, mobile device interface or something combine physical movement sensor. But even for website, nowadays there are more and more different type of interactions due to the wide-spread new tech such as flash player,web-cam, ajax and rss feed. I'm also interested in exploring the new possibilities of on-line interaction.
Another related realm I'm interested in is Psychology. How do people sense their lives, their inner desires; how do consciousness and subconscious influence our behaviors, and how do people respond and interact with external information and others. I think this category is relevant and interesting because, as human being, we are not necessarily always aware of our own emotions and it's correlations between our behavior patterns, nor do we always know how emotions can be controlled or even manipulated by either external or internal power. For designers, psychology can be a powerful tool to develop and exam our design.
